At Parap Primary School we believe in a collaborative approach to the teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy. The mathematics learning area allows students to develop mathematical skills and understandings that they can apply to many areas of life. Students will develop sound strategies for investigating and problem solving, as well as positive attitudes about their capacity to effectively use their mathematics in many life situations.
Several times a year we host the unique ‘Sharing Sessions’ classes. This is a great opportunity for parents to go to your child’s classroom and join in on Maths and English lessons. Parents get to observe how teachers introduce learning strategy to the class, and then participate in one of the group activities that follow this explicit teaching session.
We structured this so that parents can organise their work arrangements to fit in with dropping their children off at school.
