Our annual athletics sports carnival was held on Wednesday 22nd May 2019. It was exciting to see lots of smiling faces and students trying to do their best and encouraging each other.
Our Early Years sports are always a highlight and our students, teachers and parents loved the sprint races. The encouragement from the crowd was amazing. They tabloid events ran smoothly and we had many parents, family members and the house captains supporting our teachers at each event.
We would like to thank all of the staff and parents who assisted during the day to make our carnival so successful.
The Primary Years carnival began with an amazing 800m event. Congratulations to all of the children who participated in this. Competitors for the sprints and field events had been pre-selected during trials at their weekly sports lessons, and our students achieved many amazing results. Students who had not been selected to represent their house teams in the field events were able to participate in a variety of relay and team events on the day.
It was wonderful to see the manner in which all of our students competed in all events. They all tried exceptionally hard and participated in a friendly and inclusive manner.
A huge thank you to our canteen manager and the parents who volunteered their time to organise our BBQ. I would also like to thank our wonderful support staff who do so many things behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of our events. Mrs Cimarra Stephensen organised and taught our staff how to collect data each week using their iPads which made it easy and efficient to score and tally results. Teachers and students have been very impressed with being able to use technology in such a meaningful way.
I would also like to acknowledge our wonderful teachers, support staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to ensure that the day was successful and enjoyable for all. Congratulations to the Bennett House team for winning the overall competition. The team was very excited and proud of their efforts.
Congratulations to our age group champions:
